Puppies are cute - pick a healthy and sound one!
The best source of a healthy, well-socialized puppy is a conscientious breeder
with a long-term commitment to the breed and a reputation to uphold.
After reviewing the Breed Standard you should have an understanding
of the advantages and disadvantages of owning a Keeshond.
If at this point you have decided that a Keeshond is right
for you, what's the next step? First you have to decide if you want a puppy, an adult, or you
want to adopt a rescue Keeshond. There are many benefits to each choice and this is purely a personal
decision. Always keep in mind the needs of a puppy and the challenges of house training and teething.
Some breeders will have older pups or young adults to place and that may be an option to consider.
If adopting a rescue Keeshond fits best with your lifestyle, you may learn more about through the rescue link on the
Links page.
If you think a puppy is the way to go, you may contact a local Breeder.
It is very important that you communicate well with the breeder and ask them a variety of important questions,
and be prepared to answer questions from the breeder. Most breeders will try to make sure the Keeshond
is right for you, and to make sure that their puppies will be going to good homes.
